24/7 Process Control Support for a Wichita Waste Oil Refinery
A long-term Wichita partner needed control systems they could actually maintain — and a digital model of the plant they could test changes against before touching production.

A long-standing TEC partner — a waste oil refinery here in Wichita — was struggling to keep its process control infrastructure healthy while running capital expansions on top of routine maintenance. Their staff were stretched thin and needed systems they could actually administer themselves.
The challenge
A small ops team. Capital projects already in motion. Tools that were too brittle to delegate and too important to ignore.
What we did
- 24/7 support for field devices, process controllers, networking, operator interfaces, the historian, and process operations servers.
- Refreshed process control architecture and electrical schematic design.
- Updated equipment and instrumentation specifications for in-flight capital projects.
- In-house UL508A control panel fabrication from our Wichita panel shop.
- A full plant system model the team can use to validate operational changes before they hit production — accessible on-site or remotely over secure VPN.
The outcome
- Staff can assess, maintain, and troubleshoot from multiple locations — including off-site.
- Operations and engineering collaborate more cleanly on expansions because the designs and specs are current.
- Productivity and uptime moved in the same direction at the same time.
